Batch tracking via barcode printing on each bag
Complete batch tracking is required by law for medical devices. BagMatic’s ZEBRA inline printer prints the batch number, production date, item number, and machine-readable barcode on each bag directly during the packaging process. There is no need for a separate labeling step, and sources of error due to manual assignment are eliminated.
The QR and barcode bag packaging enables variable data printing without changing the printing form. Each bag can carry individual information, from sequential serial numbers to batch-specific data. Data is transferred directly from your ERP or MES system.
For regulatory requirements according to MDR and FDA, the system documents the assignment between the printed code and the packaging contents. During the printing process, a scanner reads the freshly applied code and verifies its legibility. Illegible codes are detected and the affected bags are ejected.
Vision system for complete documentation in the packaging process
The vision system goes beyond pure quality control and documents the entire packaging process. Each bag is photographed, the contents are recorded, and linked to the printed code. This documentation is created automatically without additional work and fulfills the documentation requirements of the medical device industry.
The system’s signal processing monitors all relevant process parameters in real time. Welding temperature, sealing time, and throughput are logged, and the process is interrupted if deviations outside the tolerance range occur. This inline monitoring ensures that only correctly processed bags leave the system.
The collected data flows into your quality management system. Evaluations of reject rates, machine utilization, and process stability support continuous improvement. All evidence is available digitally and searchable for upcoming audits.
